Ukrainian dark electro band, BlazerJacket is pleased to unleash their new video and single, ‘Get Out’.
The song addresses the ease of being drawn into Stockholm Syndrome and the severity of the consequences. You have to get out of the abusive and parasitic society. By just noticing the first signals, you will feel better.
BLAZERJACKET is a couple of crazy creators who are constantly experimenting with sound. The change in the vector of their art is as unpredictable as our lives. Danceable beats, powerful bass, and crazy synths are always part of any new BlazerJacket formula. With ‘Get Out’, BlazerJacket plays in the arena of Dark Electro and EBM together with Dirty Bird 13; a band known for inhabiting this territory.
Greek dark pop artist Lia Hide has recently unveiled ‘Proposal’, the first single from their new album, The Missing Fourth Guest.
The ‘Proposal’ is an invitation to a debate, a dispute, a symposium, where the three people involved are discussing the ideas that puzzle them throughout their lives. The lyrics are weaved in a dialogue between the lead singer and her alter-ego.
The ‘Proposal’ video was shot at the historic Bagkeion Hotel, in Omonoia square, Athens, Greece. The three band members are investigating elements of the Timeaus (Plato) dialogue, getting ready in their rooms for a later dinner (“Dinner” is also the title of the next single & the musical sibling of “Proposal”), in the Timeaus Sonata, the conceptual three-part work of the album .
Having played with big neo-prog acts like Riverside, Playgrounded are no strangers to outer limits of the contemporary merging of rock and electronica. Their upcoming album The Death of Death, released on 18th March, features compositions based from dynamic sound design structures by main composer Orestis.
Being self-produced these days is no exception, but it often results in subpar sounding records. However, with their upcoming studio album Playgrounded have created a masterpiece of modern metal production. New single “Tomorrow’s Rainbow” is an excellent example of how this Greek quintet are able to reveal the smallest of blips between the verses with extreme clarity while effortlessly transitioning to one of the biggest bass grooves this year will see. Venus Principle are now premiering the video clip ‘Rebel Drones’ as the first single taken from the dark psychedelic rockers’ debut full-length Stand in Your Light, which has been slated for release on May 27th.

Darkwave act VVMPYRE begins a new reign in blood in 2022 with a horrific new single ‘Offering’. Inspired by vampire cults and 70’s cult horror films, ‘Offering’ is a track that personifies the leaders of these cults in an alluring anthem. VVMPYRE creates a modernized sound with a rekindled inspiration from artists like The Sisters Of Mercy and Inkubus Sukkubus.
In a search for the right voice, VVMPYRE reached out to CORLYX singer Caitlin Stokes. VVMPYRE’s twisted imagination is met with a set of lyrics as if the chant to a ceremony against the backdrop of increasingly massive and infectious melodies.
Together with VVMPYRE’s production, ‘Offering’ is a monstrous mix of classic electrogoth, 70’s horror scores, and modern darkwave to form a bloody anthem that unleashes a barrage of hooks. Brandon Ashley of DTuned Brighton Productions and The Dark adds a gripping guitar to the mix, building the track up further in the chorus and bridge, only equally met by VVMPYRE’s haunting organ melodies.
Few groups of artists are destined to bring real innovation into a stagnating scene… but every once in a while a band comes along that takes the known ingredients and assembles them in a new way that makes sense – so that listening to their music, you’ll find yourself wondering: why haven’t I heard this before? In 2021, that band was French neo-classical post-rock ensemble BRUIT ≤. Pronounced as \’brü-ē\ [French, literally, noise].
“With their stunning debut, French art rockers Bruit have dropped an early contender for album of the year“, Prog Magazine exclaimed when the album was digitally released on Bandcamp in April 2021, and Neige from ALCEST found it to be "the best post rock I heard in a really long time“. We couldn’t agree more, but it would curtail this album’s scope, grandeur and vision if it were contextualized solely within the post rock world. It certainly does ft in there — but BRUIT ≤ are more than that, BRUIT ≤ are a class of their own.
Fast forward to 2022 and the band have signed to Pelagic Records who will reissue The Machine Is Burning And Now Everyone Knows It Could Happen Again on vinyl for the very first time on 22nd April.

Emerging from the ashes of a number of French major label pop bands in 2016, BRUIT ≤ was born from the desire of the members to escape the nauseating world of music big business and to return to a pure process of creation without artistic constraints or commercial expectations. Initially the band performed their creative research and sonic experiments solely in a studio setting, but time has shown that the ensemble’s artistic vision could not be limited to the recording environment alone. In the world of BRUIT ≤, spontaneous experimentation, thoughtful composition and the aspect of performing in order to create are different but inevitably inseparable techniques of working on the same fabric: the black magic that is creating music. Artistic Identity comes from reconciling these different techniques and approaches of working on and with that fabric, and to understand this better while listening to this album, it helps to make yourself aware that one half of the musicians is classically trained, while the other half is not and barely knows how to read notes.
The shifting to and fro between theory and practice, between research and performance and between thought and action are ultimately also reflections of the band’s fiercely activist mindset. The social and environmentalist themes that this record is orbiting around are epitomized in aphoristic spoken word passages from the French far left geneticist Albert Jacquard on the album opener “Industry”, or from the 2011 documentary If a Tree Falls: a Story of the Earth Liberation Front in “Amazing Old Tree”, where the speaker claims that environmentalists are often called ‘radical’… ‘however, the reality is that 95% of the standing native forest in the United States has been cut down. It’s not radical to save the last 5%, what’s radical is logging 95%“.
However, the emotive power of The Machine is Burning… stems not from the topical use of quotes, but from the act of creating overwhelming beauty through contrast between beauty and noise. BRUIT ≤ have everything a quintessential post-rock act needs to have, from an excessively long album name to drawn out compositions driven by atmosphere, and from samples of dramatic spoken word recordings to immaculate climaxes led by soaring, delay-soaked guitars. However, for those willing to look past the genre tropes, there are subtle moments where the band effortlessly fows from atmospheric post-metal to free jazz, and from folktronica to neo-classical avant garde improv.
BRUIT ≤ can only be fully understood through their attitude rather than their musical influences, from the environmental agenda to the group’s staunch boycot of Spotify because of the platform’s notoriously sad payouts for musicians and their CEO Daniel Ek’s recent investments in the arms industry… In that, the group is firmly nested in the tradition of political instrumental rock bands like GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, and the tumultuous yet wordless sound of the revolution that they stand for is indeed somehow related to BRUIT ≤’s own musical landscape. However, there are distinct differences between the two: The Machine is Burning… is stylistically more diverse and feels more like a carefully constructed affair with a focus on compositional finesse rather than the element of improvisation, compared to the Canadian collective’s lengthy tunes which slowly gain intensity through repetition and layering. The Machine is Burning… is also a record which despite its bleakness and its moments of immersive sadness somehow always retains a glimmer of hope, leaving the listener with a faint feeling that now everyone knows it CAN happen again.
Estonian death-metal quartet Beyond the Structure have just unleashed a lyric video for a brand new song from their forthcoming second full-length album Scrutiny due out on April 28th via Vicious Instinct Records.
The follow-up to Beyond the Structure’s debut album Nauseating Truth was recorded at Walter Productions Studios in Tallinn, Estonia by Are Kangus, mixed by Igor Ovcharenko in Samara, Russia and mastered by multi-instrumentalist and producer Colin Marston at the Thousand Caves Recording Studios in Queens, New York, and sees Beyond the Structure distilling some absolutely brutal and technically dazzling death-metal.
The fantastically-named Portuguese thrash-metal unit Last Piss Before Death have just revealed a music video for a new track off the band’s debut LPBD, released yesterday, February 21st on Raging Planet Records.

The newly formed four-piece group from Lisbon is comprised of current and former members of bands like Vulkanink, Fallen Seasons, Dollar Llama and Sannedrin among others, and play a powerful combination of colossal and groovy riffs with pummelling rhythms and angry vocalizations, not too far removed from acts like Lamb of God, Devildriver, Prong and Exhorder.
Swiss trailblazers E-L-R have revealed the final video single ‘Opiate the Sun’ for a track taken from the doomgaze trio’s sophomore full-length Vexier, which has been slated for release on March 11. Bass-y piano revs up ‘Monster Truck,’ which the band’s Zach Cooper calls “somewhere between musical theatre and classic rock.” Vic Dimotsis notes, “This song is less ‘sea salt’ and more ‘salt of the earth’. It makes more sense 100 miles outside of any major city and may be one of the few songs ever written to use ‘truck nuts’ in the chorus.”
Vic adds, “Truck Nuts glisten off the back bumper, swinging low with challenging and poetic weight. In the American South, a truck is not just a truck, but an idea. Curiosity shakes its leathery wings in this Joel Seger Springsteen high test musical theatre redline onesie, with stars down the sleeves, blow your tailfeathers off type alpha Stevie Nicks with no intent on ever returning from said pyrotechnics.”
