mclusky have returned with new music (and some not-so-new music) in the form of a mini album called i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley, which ipecac recordings will release on 20th march (digital) and 1st may (vinyl). it will be released in the following formats: digital, black vinyl, ipecac/band translucent red vinyl and the rough trade exclusive variant, crystal fuchsia.

this follows their album the world is still here and so are we which was released in 2025.

content. it drives the modern music world. photos. opinions. more photos. more opinions (please note – not all photos and opinions are bad, just 99 per cent of them). how about – and indulge me here – music? that content-y enough for you? fact is we can’t stop writing, at least at the moment. it’s fun (that’s all it needs to be). it’s the common denominator of band. only death will slow us down (note – it won’t stop us).

the idea for this release started as a bit of a stop-gap – a thing with which to help promote the north american tour – and ended up as something else entirely. ‘i know computer’ and ‘as a dad’ are new and are singles (they may make the next album, who can say, it’s already half-recorded and you will like it). damien probably likes ‘i am computer’ a bit too much but that’s okay, the heart wants what the heart wants.

‘spock culture’ and ‘hi! we’re on strike’ were recorded during the the world sessions. why didn’t they make the album? i’m not sure. lyrically they are important historical documents, up there with the pusheen the cat books and/or the US constitution.

‘fan learning difficulties’ and ‘that was my brain on elves’ have only had a digital release before and are, to quote british children from forty years ago, ‘skill’. hopefully you can agree that i – and by osmosis, all of us – have read a lot of books. – falco x

Canadian dark-pop act The Birthday Massacre have released a new single today (28th March) entitled ‘All Of You’. It coincides with the opening night of a North American tour to promote Pathways, the forthcoming new album by the group that will be released on 11th April via Metropolis Records.

The powerful ‘All Of You’ “explores the emotional weight of death and the profound sense of being lost in its shadow,” the band explain. “It speaks to the hopelessness of trying to find peace when the heart is still caught in the echoes of absence.”

‘All Of You’ is the second single to be lifted from Pathways, following the release of ‘Sleep Tonight’ at the end of February.

Divide and Dissolve sign to Bella Union and share the brand new single "Monolithic" as their North American tour dates commence. A new album is expected in 2025.

Divide and Dissolve’s music is an acknowledgement of the dispossession that occurs due to colonial violence, it honours ancestors, opposes white supremacy and calls for indigenous sovereignty.

Takiaya Reed’s dense sound is overwhelmingly heavy; a dissonant pounding of percussion, guitars, piano, synths and saxophone, interwoven with passages of orchestral beauty that give a feeling of respite.

Divide and Dissolve have released four full-length albums to date; Basic (2017, DERO), Abomination (2018, DERO), Gas Lit (2021, Invada) – which was hailed Mary Anne Hobbs’ Album of the Year, and was complimented by the Gas Lit remix EP, including reworkings by Moor Mother, Chelsea Wolfe and Bearcat. Most recently the band released Systemic (2023, Invada), and plan to follow up with their Bella Union debut in 2025.

It has been a busy year of touring for Daughters, who have recently completed their third and final European dates in support of their highly-praised album, You Won’t Get What You Want (Ipecac Recordings), and today the Providence-born outfit debut their third video from the album, “Guest House."

“It is always exciting to see our work interpreted by talented artists.” says vocalist Alexis Marshall of the A.F. Cortes directed video. “We first became familiar with Andres through his wonderful photographic work. His ability to capture unique moments, often missed by other photographers, is uncanny and we trusted him to be able to bring the same abilities as a director.”

The “Guest House” visual continues Daughters’ exploration into the world of black and white photography and film. Both of the band’s previously released videos from You Won’t Get What You Want, “City Song” and “Less Sex”, used the colour-free palette to create stunning, thought-provoking pieces that played on darkness and light, shadows and shading, to impart a variety of emotions, from the magic of a flickering candle to the beauty of the human form, and with “Guest House,” the exploration of psychological tension.

The “Guest House” video arrives as the band launches a three-week North American tour, kicking off the trek this Saturday with a sold out show at Neumos in Seattle. The tour follows two prior sold out North American outings, a nod to the band’s riveting, and intimate, live performances.

Watch: ‘Hypnos’ by Chelsea Wolfe

Chelsea Wolfe recently announced the release of the Hypnos/Flame 7” scheduled for April 1st via Sargent House, following on from her most recent album Abyss. She has now unveiled a haunting new video for ‘Hypnos’.

The video features Wolfe draped in serpents, fading between fleeting moments of clarity and pixelated visual noise. Hypnos was the Greek god of sleep, and this video translates Wolfe’s distorted love song of the same name into a stark, black-and-white hallucination. The video was self-directed by Wolfe, shot and edited by Ben Chisholm with additional camera by Ricky Verrett.

‘Hypnos’ and ‘Flame’ are both spare and haunting; even at her quietest Wolfe’s music is full of tension and fierceness. ‘Hypnos’ is available to listen and share now via the Sargent House soundcloud. The two songs are available on a special deluxe version of Abyss, available digitally April 1st, which will also feature demo versions of album tracks ‘Grey Days’, ‘Simple Death’, and ‘Survive’. Pre-order is available for the 7” via Sargent House, and digitally via iTunes.
