Bill Leeb is the Vancouver-based musician and mastermind behind electro-industrial scene mainstays Front Line Assembly and ambient-pop duo Delerium, as well as a key member of recording projects that include Noise Unit, Intermix and Cyberaktif.

Model Kollapse marks the first solo venture by this sonic chameleon and creative trailblazer since the mid-80s days of Front Line Assembly, when Leeb began making recordings in his bedroom and released them on limited edition cassette format. Almost four decades on, his new album was recorded and produced in Vancouver, Toronto and Los Angeles with assistance from production duo Dream Bullet and long-term recording cohort Rhys Fulber, plus regular mixing engineer Greg Reely.

The song ‘Demons’ has been released today as the second single from the album, with Leeb stating that the EBM styled track is a comment on “how much darkness and evil exist in the world, some of it created via technology that is here to stay, and how we have to carefully navigate our way through it all on a day-to-day basis.”

‘Demons’ follows the introductory single ‘Terror Forms’, featuring Shannon Hemmett of the group ACTORS, who are also based in Leeb’s home city.

10 Gauge – Demons

Almost a year to the day (well, the week) after 10 Gauge announced their arrival with the release of ‘I’m Broken’, they return with ‘Demons’, which sees the Hereford quintet plunge deeper into thunderous hard rock territories, and do so with confidence and aplomb.

The oblique lyrics suggest the demons may be the kind you wrestle with in the mind rather than literal, physical ones racing around on trips up from the underworld, but perhaps ultimately the two are effectively the same thing – ugly and unpleasant, they torment and torture sadistically.

But ultimately, this single is all about the hefty riffery. Christ, it hits like a juggernaut, and lands like a punch to the solar plexus. It leaves you winded, but it’s also a rush. The guitars are thick and meaty and everything about the track evokes the spirit of Sabbath. Solid, heavy, old-school but with a contemporary slant, ‘Demons’ is an absolute beast.

BrooklynVegan froths over the latest Demons album Privation as a set that “recalls ‘90s Touch & Go/AmRep type stuff (or newer bands like METZ) and puts a fresh, exciting spin on it." That was good enough to grab us, for a start, and now Demons have unveiled a music video for the track "Play Acting Virtue" which is now streaming here:

Demons’ Zach Gehring says, "We are playing our first show in over a year this Friday, so we wanted to share this video from the last show we played back in March of 2020 with DOA and Dead Kennedys at the Norva."

The heavy, experimental project of Gehring (who also plays guitar in Mae) Demons dropped their latest album Privation, on April 30 via Spartan Records.

Of the album’s title, Gehring explains, "(it’s) concerned with loss, deprivation, and lack, In our context — this is reflective of where we are at personally, culturally, and politically. It’s a structural aspect of our lived experience — and it is particularly aggravated of late.”

Drawing from the spirit of bands like Metz, Gulch, Converge, Propagandhi, the Demons crew (the aforementioned Gehring, Chris Mathews [vocals/guitar], Jonathan Anderson [bass], Drew Orton [drums]) punishingly delivers ten tracks of raw and confrontational fury, motivated from within a spiraling sociopolitical landscape that evokes critical self-reflection and frustration
