Leeds-based purveyors of darkly psychedelic country, Fighting Caravans, follow up on the promise of their Beasts of England EP and a string of intense live shows with the release of the single ‘Blue Heart Motel’ on 1st July. Released on 7” vinyl and digital formats, it’s accompanied by a suitably twisted promo video, which you can watch here – and we recommend you do.
Norwegian avantgarde rock/metal band Virus who release their new album ‘Memento Collider’ next month have shared a new video made by Costin Chioreanu, who has worked with the likes of Paradise Lost, At the Gates, Mayhem, Spiritual Beggars, Roadburn Festival and many more. You can watch the video for ‘Rogue Fossil’ here:
‘Shake Shake’ from Irish girl-rock act REWS may be bit more accessible than a lot of the stuff you’ll usually find here at Aural Aggravation, but we’re all about music that excites us, and we know a cracking song when we hear one. ‘Shake Shake’ is a cracking song.
Consisting of songstress Shauna Tohill and beat-maker Collette Williams together they’ve been creating a genuine buzz with their brand of punky alt-rock including plays from Kerrang Radio, Planet Rock, Team Rock Radio, Steve Lamacq, Amazing Radio and Dan O’Connell on Radio X.
Featuring members of Joanna Gruesome, Thin Privilege and Black International, Glasgow purveyors of no-wave noise are unleashing their debut album via Good Grief records on a pay-what-you-want basis. Which means you can get it for free, but obviously, chipping in a few quid is a good way to show appreciation and to help bands to keep making music. This one’s definitely worth it. Watch the vid below, and check the album out via the link below that.
Chelsea Wolfe recently announced the release of the Hypnos/Flame 7” scheduled for April 1st via Sargent House, following on from her most recent album Abyss. She has now unveiled a haunting new video for ‘Hypnos’.
The video features Wolfe draped in serpents, fading between fleeting moments of clarity and pixelated visual noise. Hypnos was the Greek god of sleep, and this video translates Wolfe’s distorted love song of the same name into a stark, black-and-white hallucination. The video was self-directed by Wolfe, shot and edited by Ben Chisholm with additional camera by Ricky Verrett.
‘Hypnos’ and ‘Flame’ are both spare and haunting; even at her quietest Wolfe’s music is full of tension and fierceness. ‘Hypnos’ is available to listen and share now via the Sargent House soundcloud. The two songs are available on a special deluxe version of Abyss, available digitally April 1st, which will also feature demo versions of album tracks ‘Grey Days’, ‘Simple Death’, and ‘Survive’. Pre-order is available for the 7” via Sargent House, and digitally via iTunes.
She will also be undertaking an epic tour of the US in April with support from labelmates A Dead Forest Index. Dates are as follows:

This week will see the release of One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache, the fittingly-titled, collaborative debut between apocalyptic doom duo, The Body, and grindcore/harsh noise sculptors, Full of Hell. Set for release on March 25th via Neurot Recordings, the offering came together during last year’s massive North American trek which united both bands. Amidst the chaos of tour life, the two groups found time to record together at Machines With Magnets in Providence, Rhode Island. The session eventually culminated into the harrowing sounds found on One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache, which is ultimately an audio reflection of their surroundings and their inability to cope therein.
As a precursor to its release, they’ve unleashed the video accompaniment to second movement, “Fleshworks.”It’s suitably challenging, and you can watch it here:
Liverpool three-piece, Elevant are set to release a new single on their own Elevant Music Limited imprint on the 4th of March 2016.
Audience’, the follow up to the recent ‘Again’ single, was recorded at 3rd Planet Recording Studios in Liverpool and was self produced, engineered by Kyle Western and mastered by Pete Maher (Jack White, Patti Smith, Scissor Sisters). Available to download, the new single takes inspiration from The Melvins, Nirvana and Bauhaus and is a taste of what to expect from the Elevant’s eagerly awaited forthcoming third album ‘There Is A Tide’ which is due for release on the 4th of March.
The Elevant line up of Michael Edward (guitar / vocals), Tom Shand (drums / piano) and Hannah Lodge (bass / organ) have over the last two years combined their love of My Bloody Valentine, God Speed You! Black Emperor, St Vincent, Tame Impala and Portishead to create something very special. Effortlessly twisting a pop hook to their post punk, psych and krautrock sound to great effect, there is an energy and vision that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
A truly innovative and exciting live band, Elevant are set to play the following UK shows to coincide with the new single and album release. The dates will include a hometown album launch show at Liverpool’s Buyers Club on the 9th of March and a London date at the Sebright Arms on the 16th of March with label mates Too Many Poets.

The debut album by Desert Mountain Tribe is reason to get excited. Released 4th March, Either That or the Moon is a perfectly realised psych/drone/indie/rock album with a whole load going on – and a whole load of guitars. They’ve unveiled a promo video for ‘Enos in Space’ by way of a taster. Check it out here.
Dale Crover of the Melvins is a fan and played on their last album, Ginger Wildheart is also a fan as he had the band’s frontman sing on his Mutation album which was released on Mike Patton’s Ipecac label. The singer from Godzilla Black also plays drums in Hawk Eyes.
‘The Other White Meat’ is lifted from the forthcoming album ‘Press The Flesh’, released 1st April via Quisling Records. It’s got the lot – chunky bass, lurching riffs, wild sax, and nods to The Blues Brothers. On one hand, it’s like a collision between Rocket from the Crypt, Hawk Eyes, Dead Kennedys and Shellac. On the other, it’s nothing like anything else. Get a load of it below, and hope for their sake they don’t suffer the same fate as Baby Godzilla.
