Just back from roads of Europe and full concert halls, Industrial metal legends Die Krupps drop the new video single ‘Will nicht – MUSS!’. This track is taken from the EP Will nicht – MUSS! / On Collision Course that was sold as a hand-numbered collectors’ CD during the already ended and highly successful 45th anniversary tour of this genre defining band.

Due to high demand for the EP, Die Krupps will offer only 45 copies of ‘Will nicht – MUSS!’ as an exclusive 45th Anniversary Gatefold Vinyl edition that is filled with a petrol-green liquid. A limited transparent green gatefold vinyl will also be made available. Both versions will be released on December 12, 2025 and can be pre-ordered at this shop link: https://spkr.store/collections/die-krupps

The Will nicht – MUSS! / On Collision Course EP contains guest contributions and remixes from prominent musicians of renowned acts such as MINISTRY with whom DIE KRUPPS have successfully toured in the US earlier this year. The two single tracks of the EP also offer a first glimpse at the upcoming new album.

DIE KRUPPS comment: “The original idea for ‘Will Nicht – MUSS!’ is based on the classic German movie M (1931), which was directed by Fritz Lang following his huge success with Metropolis, Jürgen Engler explains. “The movie’s subtitle ‘A City Is Hunting for a Killer’, sums up the basic plot. The child-murdering antagonist keeps whistling the main theme from Edvard Grieg’s ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ throughout the movie. This inspired us to take Grieg’s melody and add our classic harsh Die Krupps sound to it. The composition came together just as quickly as our 2013 hit ‘Robo Sapien’, which is always a good sign for us. We sincerely hope that you will receive the track just as positively!"

DIE KRUPPS comment: “You may be forgiven to think that ‘On Collision Course’ and ‘Will nicht – Muss!’, which translates into ‘don’t want to – have to’, could have been the working titles for our upcoming European tour”, Ralf Dörper quips. “In truth, the 45 years of influential sounds from Düsseldorf has been our guiding theme. In celebration of this anniversary, we have created this exclusive EP as a treat for all the dedicated fans coming to our concerts. It will give you an impression about what sound is currently happening in our steelworks as the above mentioned singles of the double-title will also provide a first and second taste of our upcoming album. The EP also includes some sonic glimpses of the experiences and friendships made on our recent US-tour with Ministry. Watch out for those remixes!”

Industrial rock insurgents Jesus on Extasy (JoE) are back – darker, heavier and more relentless than ever. Led by founding member Dorian Deveraux, the band has returned with an uncompromising sound that pushes their signature mix of industrial beats, searing guitars and raw emotion to the next level.

JoE have issued ‘Somewhat Happy’ as a new single today, with Deveraux deeeming it “the apocalyptic post breakup song you didn’t know you needed.” Describing the song as a paean to “how to move on after a traumatic relationship that left your world in shambles, when you’re starting to get clarity and see your ex-partner for who they really are,” the song can be seen as lyrically related to ’Soul Crusher’ its heavy-hitting predecessor released in July.

Like that single, ‘Somewhat Happy’ offers a further brutal preview of what is to come on the forthcoming new JoE album, Between Despair And Disbelief, which is out on 12th September via Metropolis Records. Giving fans a tantalising taste of their second coming with the single ‘Wide Awake’ in 2023, the band then signed to Metropolis Records to issue ‘Days Gone By’ VIDEO in late 2024, followed by ’Soul Crusher’ VIDEO. All three have been heavier, more intense and unapologetically aggressive than ever before. “It looks like the world is going to hell. We might as well deliver the soundtrack for that,” adds Deveraux.

Industrial rock insurgents Jesus on Extasy are back – darker, heavier and more relentless than ever. Led by founding member Dorian Deveraux, the band has returned with an uncompromising sound that pushes their signature mix of industrial beats, searing guitars and raw emotion to the next level.

JoE have just dropped the heavy-hitting ‘Soul Crusher’ as a new single, with Deveraux stating that “it’s a post-breakup song dealing with the feeling of reality kicking in after you’ve basically mourned the loss of a loved one. You start to see them for what they really are and you start wondering if any of it was even real or if you’ve been gaslighted all along. I’d be lying (mostly to myself) if I told you the song isn’t autobiographical. It was written in the aftermath of a pretty dark period in my life and was an outlet to deal with the trauma.”

‘Soul Crusher’ offers a further brutal preview of the forthcoming new JoE album, Between Despair And Disbelief, out on 12th September via Metropolis Records. Giving fans a tantalising taste of their second coming with the single ‘Wide Awake’ in 2023, the band subsequently signed to the label to issue ‘Days Gone By’ in late 2024. Both were heavier, more intense and unapologetically aggressive than ever before. “It looks like the world is going to hell. We might as well deliver the soundtrack for that,” adds Deveraux.

JoE will tour Europe with Die Krupps in September, on which fans can expect an unrelenting live set packed with new material and reimagined classics, proving that their resurgence is built. With a harder edge and a fire that refuses to burn out, JoE fully intend to leave an everlasting mark on the alternative rock landscape.

Cleopatra Records

Christopher Nosnibor

As a label, Cleopatra has arguably established itself as the home of goth and dark music, with leanings toward the vintage period where goth emerged from post-punk – alongside some classic 80s acts, old-school punk, and some weird shit, of course.

Belgian ‘band’ Controversial – the vehicle of Bart Coninckx – mines a largely industrial seam in the vein of Wax Trax! – early Ministry, KMFDM, Skrew, blending stark synths with grating guitars and thumping programmed beats.

It’s a bleak, barren start to the album with the eerie dark drone of ‘The Trauma of Birth’ that ruptures the haunting, ethereal choral sound with dirty guitars and grainy samples, before things get 80s motoric with the cyclical synth groove of ‘With a Vision of Death’: plinking videogame laser sounds give way to the heavy chug of a metallic guitar, and, low in the mix, a distorted, Al Jourgensen style raspy roar that growls and spits and snarls its way through a cacophony of tortured howl.

Having done birth and death, we’re into the myriad shades of pain of the human condition, from recent single ‘Violence’ – an absolutely relentless riff-driven pounder – to the brooding piano-led ‘Is This the Best’ via serene theatricals of ‘Crying’ that swerves into an epic prog guitar solo. You couldn’t accuse Controversial of being predictable or one-dimensional.

Over the course of thirteen muscular cuts (plus a couple of bonus remixes courtesy of Die Krupps and Laether Strip) dominated by some brutally heavy, hard-edge riffage, Controversial tears through modern society like, like a typhoon, like a forest fire, like a juggernaut with the brakes cut.

‘Commercial Breakdown’ blasts its way through pandemic control mechanisms and leans heavily on both ‘NWO’ and ‘Psalm 69’ but works because of it rather than in spite of it – because if you’re going to be overt, best to take a solid source of influence, and while much of the album is geared toward the grating guitar sound, a handful, like ‘Suffering Unseen’ (which nabs the drum fill from Cabaret Voltaire’s ‘Nag Nag Nag’) go all out technoindustrial / aggrotech. The songs tend to be centred around heavy repetition, both with circular, repetitive riffs and motifs, and looped samples, pitched around the optimal 120 BPM to render them instant grippers.

No two ways about it, Second Genesis is a solid album with plenty of attack paired with an unexpected range.
